Minimum-balance fee

A minimum-balance fee is a charge triggered when a declared balance test does not meet its required threshold.

Definitions

In plain terms

The account terms must identify which balance, period and comparison determine whether the fee applies.

Technical

D30 counts eligible daily closing balances strictly below the threshold, then applies its grace-day and waiver rules. Average balance is diagnostic only.

Scope

Other products may define an average-balance fee test; the selected D30 profile does not.

Examples

  • With zero grace days and no waiver, a synthetic below-threshold day triggers the selected fee test; a day exactly at the threshold is not counted low.

Common misconceptions

  • One low intraday transaction value is not automatically the contractual period minimum.
