Ledger posted balance

A ledger posted balance is the balance obtained from entries accepted into the relevant account ledger at a specified boundary.

Also known asledger balanceposted balance

Definitions

In plain terms

It reflects recorded debits and credits, while pending reservations can affect what may be spent before they become postings.

Technical

The D30 fold requires evidenced genesis or a validated checkpoint and committed sequence; an unexplained opening scalar is rejected. Snapshot readers have a separate trusted posted-input contract.

Scope

Posted, cleared, reconciled and available are different states; provider names and cutoffs can differ.

Examples

  • A 20,000-cent posted balance stays 20,000 cents after creating a 5,000-cent reservation.

Common misconceptions

  • A posted balance is not automatically all the money currently available to withdraw.
