Definitions
In plain terms
Constituents can enter or leave during reviews, reconstitutions, fast-entry events, mergers, or other maintenance actions.
Technical
A constituent record needs stable instrument identity, index and share-class context, inclusion interval, shares or units, investability factors, currency, source, and knowledge lineage.
Scope
Membership does not by itself define weight, and a company's multiple securities can have separate constituent status.
Examples
- A governed index record identifies index constituent with its applicable methodology version, effective time, source, and units.
Common misconceptions
- Index Constituent does not have one universal implementation without the named index methodology, data cutoff, and governance context.
