Definitions
In plain terms
The level shows change relative to the index's starting and maintenance rules; its point value is not a currency price for one share.
Technical
A level requires index identity and methodology version, timestamp, currency or currency treatment, return variant, divisor or recurrence state, input cutoff, precision, and status.
Scope
Levels from different indices or return variants are not directly comparable merely because they share the same base.
Examples
- A governed index record identifies index level with its applicable methodology version, effective time, source, and units.
Common misconceptions
- Index Level does not have one universal implementation without the named index methodology, data cutoff, and governance context.
