DBSCAN Neighborhood

DBSCAN Neighborhood is the set of same-kind pivot points within the inclusive epsilon radius of one pivot.

Definitions

In plain terms

A point's neighborhood counts nearby pivots including itself.

Technical

N_delta(i) = {j: kind_j = kind_i and d(i,j) <= delta}; equality at the boundary is included.

Scope

A neighborhood is local evidence and is not itself a completed level.

Formula

N_delta(i) = same-kind pivots within inclusive delta
LaTeX: N_\delta(i)=\{j:kind_j=kind_i, d(i,j)\le\delta\}

Examples

  • A reviewer computes DBSCAN Neighborhood on a small deterministic fixture and checks timing, units, and boundary behavior before publication.

Common misconceptions

  • A neighborhood is local evidence and is not itself a completed level.

Evidence and governance

  1. sklearn.cluster.DBSCAN scikit-learn · first party technical publication

    Supports: preferred label, short definition, technical definition, formula

    Limits: The package implements deterministic one-dimensional DBSCAN directly for Python/TypeScript parity.

  2. Pine Script pivot techniques TradingView · official platform documentation

    Supports: preferred label, short definition, technical definition, formula

    Limits: The package freezes its own equality, separation, and OHLC policies rather than claiming one universal pivot definition.

  3. numpy.log NumPy · first party technical publication

    Supports: preferred label, short definition, technical definition, formula

    Limits: A log transform requires positive finite prices and does not by itself define a financial level.
