Accounting period lock

An accounting period lock restricts posting or changing entries assigned to a protected period under an explicit authorization policy.

Also known asperiod lock

Definitions

In plain terms

A later request must respect the lock even if a client previously saw the period as open.

Technical

D30 checks posting admission against trusted period state. Its durable host must retain the ledger lock through transaction completion and gate adjustments or reopening explicitly.

Scope

The guarantee depends on roles, concurrent changes and the privileged-owner boundary.

Examples

  • A synthetic request prepared before close is rejected if the period is locked when the posting is admitted.

Common misconceptions

  • A cached open-period screen is not proof of current posting permission.
