Instead of replaying every update, a snapshot shows the best-known state at one time, such as the current quote or security master.
Technical
Snapshot correctness requires scope, cutoff semantics, source versions, completeness, sequence position, availability boundary, and treatment of late or corrected events.
Scope
A snapshot does not reveal every event that produced the state and may not be point-in-time safe without lineage.
