Pattern Confirmation Window

Pattern Confirmation Window is the finite period during which a qualified candidate may confirm by crossing its neckline.

Definitions

In plain terms

If no close crosses before the deadline, the candidate expires instead of remaining valid forever.

Technical

Confirmation is allowed through last_pivot_index + max_confirmation_bars; rejection occurs on the following bar.

Scope

Expiry is part of the detector contract and changes whether a late break is accepted.

Examples

  • A reviewer computes Pattern Confirmation Window on a deterministic close fixture and checks pivot timing, threshold equality, neckline behavior, and rejection diagnostics before publication.

Common misconceptions

  • Expiry is part of the detector contract and changes whether a late break is accepted.

Supports: preferred label, short definition, technical definition

Limits: The paper's smoothing, sample, and empirical design are not copied into this package and do not validate its thresholds.

Limits: This retrospective signal function is not itself a causal OHLC pivot detector.

  4. Pine Script pivot techniques TradingView · official platform documentation

Supports: preferred label, short definition, technical definition

Limits: The package freezes its own equality, separation, and OHLC policies rather than claiming one universal pivot definition.

  5. Zig Zag indicator QuantConnect · official platform documentation

Limits: This package selects a close-only percentage-reversal variant and documents the difference.

Limits: A maintained implementation is evidence for one convention, not a universal market rule.
