Definitions
In plain terms
It gives a later verifier an independent reference only to the extent that the witness or retention arrangement is actually trusted.
Technical
D30 A07 checks a synthetic receipt and exact anchor-envelope bytes for consistency. Witness signatures, provider authentication and independent live retention are not verified by that model.
Scope
Trust, freshness, witness independence and the exact committed bytes must be assessed separately.
Examples
- A synthetic witness receipt binds the checkpoint digest; a different checkpoint cannot reuse that receipt.
Common misconceptions
- Calling a local JSON receipt an anchor does not create independent real-world assurance.

- Locking objects with Object Lock Amazon Web Services · official platform documentation
Supports: preferred label, short definition, variant distinction
Limits: Retention modes and permissions differ; protection does not prevent new versions or prove payload truth.
- D30 glossary teaching-profile scope, Batch 013 The Fintech Builder · internal governed contract
